Robyn’s Ramblings

Thoughts from the Beaniest

About April 24, 2009

My name is Robyn Mendez, formerly Robyn Hutchison.  I’m married to Juan and we live in the Houston suburb of Pearland, TX with our French Bulldog named Brutus.

We are expecting our first baby in September, which I originally had named Mystery Mendez as a result of his/her unwillingness to reveal the goods during our first ultrasound.  We now know that she’s going to be girl and think we are going to call her Julianna Marie.

I attended Texas A&M and was a student during the collapse of the bonfire.  This event had a tremendous influence on me.  While in college I volunteered for the Opera & Preforming Arts Society (OPAS), which brought professional performing artists to College Station.  I met some of the most amazing & inspiring friends with OPAS and loved my time in the organization.  I also happened to walk away from A&M with a degree in Journalism, but this was a minor perk of attending college.

At the onset of my professional life, I worked for 2 of Houston’s largest non-profit fundraising events:  the MS 150 Bike Tour and the Komen Houston Race for the Cure.  Working on massive special events  providing me some of the most rewarding and exhausting experiences of my life.  I’m currently working out of my house as a Project Manager for a software company based in Austin.  My husband calls the the neighborhood vieja or old lady because I sit in my office all day with a bird’s eye view of all my neighbors.

When I’m not spying on my neighbors from my office, you can probably find me lounging on the couch watching bad reality TV or HBO.  This luxury is probably going to come to a hault once our new arrival joins the family.  I also enjoy facebooking, shoe shopping, traveling and hanging out with the Bru.
