It’s official and undeniable… Mystery Mendez is going to be Miss Mystery Mendez. :)

Juan and I are still duking it out over names. The discussion got pretty heated a couple weeks ago so we’ve dropped the conversation for the moment. We are probably going to name her Julianna after Juan’s grandmother. It’s not my favorite name, but family names very important to him. I think the compromise is that I’ll get first dibs on naming baby #2. In reality, we’ve got 4 months to figure out a name so I’m not panicking yet.

Speaking of 4 months, WOW 5 months has passed so quickly!!! The ultrasound revealed yesterday that everything looks normal and the baby looks very healthy. She’s in the 56 percentile for being at 21 weeks, which means her measurements are around average for a baby her age. It was amazing to see her moving on the ultrasound. I must confess that I got a little misty when the technician plopped the magic ultrasound wand on my belly and the first thing we saw was the baby’s profile. I suspect that she’s going to look like her Daddy, which makes me smile.

Juan is not quite sure what to think about having a little girl. He’s worried that she’s going to make him soft. I’m worried that he’s going to spoil her rotten and turn her into a demon diva child. He was hoping for a little boy, but seems excited about a girl. My mom likes to say, “God looked down at this family and thought that there was already a strong male presence so he needed to balance it out with a little girl.”

I’m feeling ok these days. Second Trimester is much easier. Honestly, I’ve been doing a poor job of managing my schedule to take care of myself. Last week, I travelled 6 days in a row for work (4 in DC, 2 in Austin) and came home to find that my MIL had been admitted to ICU for continuing heart/gall bladder issues. Juan and I spent the weekend bouncing between the hospital to visit Olga and my mom’s house to visit with Amanda & Katherine for Mother’s Day.

Although I’m home this week, the manic pace seems to be continuing. Between client drama on Monday and Tuesday’s trips to the OB/GYN, Olga’s hospital and my mom’s, I’m feeling like it should be Friday… and realizing that it’s only Wednesday morning and I’ve got more week ahead of me than behind me.

To end on a happy note… WE”RE HAVING A LITTLE GIRL!!!!!! ;)
